The Seven Principles of Restoring Good Government

  Dear fellow Marylanders,
Many of you have read about "Pay to play democracy". public officials receiving campaign donation in exchange for a political favour.   I see this becoming a growing problem in our democratic process if action is not taken to stop this unethical conduct.    Below I have written a code of conduct that I would to propose when elected to Congress.

SELFLESSNESS

Holders of public office should act solely in terms of public interest. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family or there friends.

INTEGRITY
Holders of public office should not place themselves under any financial or other individual or organisation, that might seek to influence them in the performance of their official duties.
OBJECTIVITY
In carry out public business, including making appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits. Holders of public office should make choices on merit only.
ACCOUNTIBILTY
Holders of public office are accountible for their actions to the public, and must submit themself to whatever security is appropiat to their office.
OPENNESS
Holders of public office should be open as posible about the decisions and actions they should take. They should give reasons for their dicisions and restrict information only whan the wider public interest clearly demands.
HONESTY
Holders of public office have a duty to declare any private interest relating to their public duties and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the public interest.
LEADERSHIP
Holders of public office should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.

I thank you for visiting my blog your comments and suggestions are most important to me. It is my goal to build a grass roots network of fiscal conservatives throughout Maryland and the Nation. As we work to end one party rule in Maryland by restoring fiscal accountability in the State House.
Respectfully Yours!
